Speaking at a press briefing, Dr. Salako emphasised the critical role journalists play in disseminating health policies, raising awareness, and providing feedback that informs decision-making.

“The media is indispensable in communicating our policies and ensuring they reach all corners of the country. Without the media, we cannot achieve the level of awareness required to improve health-seeking behaviors and health efficiency among our people,”
Dr. Salako stated.
The minister highlighted the link between public awareness and improved health outcomes, noting that increased health literacy drives better health indicators.
He urged health journalists to see themselves as “partners in progress” who play a vital role in bridging the gap between policy formulation and public understanding.

Dr. Salako outlined his vision for improving patient care and the overall healthcare experience, saying “Our priority is to enhance the quality of care in our hospitals and ensure that patients receive top-notch services,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of prevention in healthcare, citing the need for more proactive measures to reduce the burden of diseases.
