Minister of state for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako, has called for stronger collaboration between the health sector and the media to enhance healthcare delivery and public health awareness in the country.

Speaking at a press briefing, Dr. Salako emphasised the critical role journalists play in disseminating health policies, raising awareness, and providing feedback that informs decision-making.

“The media is indispensable in communicating our policies and ensuring they reach all corners of the country. Without the media, we cannot achieve the level of awareness required to improve health-seeking behaviors and health efficiency among our people,”
Dr. Salako stated.
The minister highlighted the link between public awareness and improved health outcomes, noting that increased health literacy drives better health indicators.
He urged health journalists to see themselves as “partners in progress” who play a vital role in bridging the gap between policy formulation and public understanding.
