Oke- Ero local government area of Kwara State is now open defecation free (ODF), the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation has said.

“I write to extend my congratulations to Your Excellency on the validation of Oke Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State as ODF on Wednesday 27th August, 2025,” Prof. Joseph Utsev, minister of water resources and sanitation, said in a correspondence to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

He said the local government met the criteria and had been added to the list of ODF LGAs in Nigeria, saying it was the first council area in Kwara to attain the status.

“This is a good contribution to the national aspiration of ending open defecation in the country by 2030. We hope that this trend of achievement will continue, with the expectation of Kwara State achieving statewide ODF status soon,” the minister added.
