Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore in Shira local government area of Bauchi State, Muhammadu Ore, has commended the Bauchi State government for its strides in inclusive nomadic education, urging the state to broaden access for all categories of Fulani children.
Ore made the call at the sendforth for over 1,000 nomadic children who benefitted from the Nomadic Vacation Courses organised by the Bauchi State Agency for Nomadic Education (BASANE) across the state.
He applauded the efforts of the agency for restoring hope in nomadic communities and providing both educational and healthcare support to children during the programme.
“We are fully in support of this initiative and will continue to work with the government to ensure every nomadic child is carried along,” he assured.
The executive secretary of BASANE, Ahmad Bello, explained that the initiative targeted core subjects such as English and Mathematics, which are essential for academic and professional advancement.
He said the programme was in line with Governor Bala Mohammed’s vision of educational inclusivity for all, especially underserved communities.
Bello noted that the vacation courses were not only academic but also aimed at building confidence in nomadic children, with a strong emphasis on the participation of girl children.
“Girls must be supported to complete their education and pursue any career they choose,” he said, pledging continued expansion of access to nomadic schools in remote areas.
Representing the chairman of Shira LGA, Special Adviser on Students and Education, Umar Sarki Dango, reaffirmed the council’s commitment to Governor Bala’s educational reforms, promising to work with religious and traditional leaders to reduce the number of out-of-school nomadic children.
