Benue State Police Command has confirmed the killing of three suspected robbers by some angry youths in Maav-Ya community, Kwande local government area of the state.
A police officer who sought anonymity said the youths apprehended the suspects: Zwanen Terzungwe, Iordepuu Gwa and Aondongu Terna over alleged robbery at about 6:00pm and took them to the community council hall, where they were beaten to death.
The source said security operatives rushed to the scene after receiving the report of the incident; however, the youths responsible for the jungle justice fled before their arrival.
He said the remains of the deceased suspects were evacuated and deposited at the Kwande General Hospital.
While warning youths against jungle justice, the police said that efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved in the mob action.
