MOJEC international has sustained its strategy to ensure more Nigerians under the estimated billing bracket are metered.

The organisation, in partnership with the federal government under the National Mass Metering Programme (NMMP) and the MAP initiative with Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has provided meter assets and installations for Nigerians through respective DisCos ensuring that the average Nigerian household pay for only electricity they use while also securing funds for the DISCOs.

According to the group managing director/CEO of MOJEC International, Ms Chantelle Abdul, ‘’our motivation and goal at Mojec is to help the electricity sector achieve its potential. When we first came into the sector, 80 per cent of Nigerians did not have meters, and today we have significantly contributed to reducing that to at least 50 per cent.

“As a developing economy, we understand the meter needs will continue to grow, and as a result, we have invested in research and development that not only designs but also produces meters that speak to peculiar issues in the ecosystem. We have meters for needs that are specific to Nigeria and other African countries. Today, Mojec is getting Nigeria metered, and it is amazing the results we have helped the sector achieve so far.’’

MOJEC is known as the foremost meter manufacturer and supplier to the Nigerian DisCos and is globally recognised as a leader and innovator in metering.

In its past 38 years, the company has continued to deliver on smart meters, making them one of the leading metering brands in the energy sector with solutions that address the sector’s key challenges.

MOJEC Meter Company, the largest meter manufacturer in Nigeria is striving to ensure that the lingering prepaid meter deployment challenges in the country is resolved and electricity consumers adequately metered.

As a leading indigenous manufacturer and contractor to power utilities in Nigeria and across the western hemisphere, Mojec has an installed production capacity of up to four million meters annually.

Today, Mojec remains at the forefront of Metering Technology and boasts over 80 per cent market penetration rate in the Nigerian Electricity market with over 10 out of 11 of the utilities as clients.

With ambitious future plans for growth, it aims to further entrench its leadership in the Nigerian Power sector through research and development, training in human capital and investment in infrastructure, our people, products and processes.

Chantelle Abdul confirmed to LEADERSHIP that the company had supplied about 1,010,834, meters from February 2019 to date under MAP phase 1, NNNP phase 0 and current MAP phase 2.

She said the company pioneered Smart Metering Technology in Nigeria and also pioneered the Mobile MAP initiative, an initiative that delivers meters to customers in 24 hours.

Our Correspondent reports that MOJEC became the number one partner to DisCos after the launch of the Credited Advance Payment for Metering Implementation (CAPMI) scheme, and had expanded operations from meter manufacturing to power generation, transmission, and distribution.

In addition it has expanded operations to include the provision of solar power solutions to individuals and business owners, after it launched Mojec Meter Installer Training Academy (MMITA) to train women and young adults as distribution company engineers

So far, it has provided training to over 5,000 installers of meters across the country to become the largest supplier of meters in Sub-Saharan Africa.

As a leader in Cutting Edge Innovative Nationwide metering technology (AMI) solutions with a capacity of over 300,000 meters Nationwide, it has led Small Medium Enterprise (SME) with over 10,000-meter rollout to over 15 Estates, Malls, Universities, and Mini Ecosystem.
