Monarchs, Youths Commend Tinubu, Ododo Over Improved Security

Traditional rulers and youth leaders in Kogi West Senatorial District have commended President Bola Tinubu and Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo over what they described as improved security efforts in the region, while throwing their support behind Hon. Sam Aro Bemidele’s senatorial ambition.

In a separate meeting held over the weekend in Kabba, headquarters of Kogi West Senatorial district, both groups spoke glowing of the undeniable impacts of President Tinubu and Governor Ododo’s synergy in areas of security that has restored peace and order in the area while asking for intensified efforts to continue in that direction.

On their part, the Okun area council traditional authority under the Chairmanship of Obaro of Kabba, Oba(Dr) Solomon Owoniyi met at the palace of Obaro and reviewed salient issues affecting peace and development of the area, including security matters and dispute between two monarchs in Yagba West area of the state.

While discussing security, royal fathers present including the Elegbe of Egbe, Oba Irukera, Agbana of Isanlu, Oba Etombi, Elulu of Mopa, Oba Ibeun, Olujumu of Ijumu, Oba Ayeni and all other ranking traditional rulers from the five LGAs of Okunland resolved to collaborate with security agencies to ensure more people involved and community based approach to fighting insecurity. One after the other, the royal fathers spoke about challenges m their respective domains and proposed United approach to resolving the common challenges. On the dispute between two royal fathers from Yagba West, council have immediately intervened and asked that the matter be withdrawn from court, while council invites the parties for a meeting on Sunday for amicable resolution.

 

The recognition of Hon Sam Aro by the youth group as the most viable Senstorial candidate and truly elected Candidate of All Progressives Congress was contained in a statement issued by the Okun Youth Leaders and Stakeholders Forum, where the group declared its support for Aro as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kogi West Senatorial District.

The group described Aro as the legitimate winner of the APC senatorial primary election, citing his commitment to grassroots development and effective representation.

“The energized and determined youths of Kogi West stand united, ready, willing, and eager to mobilize our networks, resources, and energy to work closely with Hon. Bemidele,” the statement read.

The forum also praised Governor Ododo’s administration for its security measures, particularly following the reported operation that led to the death of a suspected bandit leader, Batijo, in Iluke, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.

According to the group, the development reflected the impact of the governor’s investments in security infrastructure, intelligence gathering, improved welfare for security personnel, and collaboration with local security groups. The group specifically mentioned for appreciation, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara for his genuine commitment towards fighting insecurity in the state.

It also acknowledged the role of former Governor Yahaya Bello in laying what it described as a foundation for improved security in the state through strategic investments and community partnerships.

The youth leaders further called on APC stakeholders to support candidates they believe align with the aspirations of the people, urging unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

The group stated that its backing for Aro was based on the need for “dynamic, progressive, and impactful representation” for Kogi West, while appealing to party leaders to prioritise the interests of the electorate.
