Former governor of Kano State and national leader of Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has revealed that his recent meeting with former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was centred on efforts to reposition Nigeria and set it on the path of progress.

Kwankwaso made this known in a post on his verified Facebook page on Saturday evening, following his visit to Atiku’s residence in Abuja.

“I paid a courtesy visit today to former Vice President, His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, at his Abuja residence. We had a productive discussion aimed at forging a common front to reposition our dear nation on the right trajectory,” he wrote.

LEADERSHIP reports that the development came hours after Atiku had earlier confirmed the meeting, describing their engagement as wide-ranging and focused on national issues.

“This evening, I received the former Governor of Kano State and the Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on a courtesy visit. We had a robust discussion on the state of the nation,” Atiku had posted.

Meanwhile, the Kwankwasiyya Movement has announced that Kwankwaso has concluded arrangements to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement issued on Saturday night and signed by its spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, the movement disclosed that Kwankwaso would formally register with the opposition coalition party on Monday, March 30, 2026, at his residence on Miller Road in Kano by 12 p.m.

The group directed its members nationwide to commence registration with the ADC at ward, local government, and state levels immediately after their leader’s enrolment.

“Members are also encouraged to fully engage in all party activities and contribute actively toward the growth, development, and success of the party at all levels,” the statement read.

Describing the decision as strategic, the movement said it was taken in the best interest of its members, Kano State, and the nation.

“This strategic decision, as always, has been taken in the best interest of the movement, our state, and the nation at large. It reflects our unwavering commitment to the advancement of democratic values, good governance, and the collective aspirations of the people,” the statement added.
