My Victory Was Tough, Says APC Senatorial Candidate

Winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Abia South for the 2027 general election, Erondu Uchenna-Erondu Jr, has said the election was a tough battle.

Uchenna-Erondu, who represents Obingwa West Constituency in the state House of Assembly, stated this after the result was announced in Umuahia, the capital.

He said the process was the freest and fairest primaries ever conducted by the party in the state. “I feel elated. I feel honored. And I feel the presence of God around me,” he added.

“It was a tough battle. It wasn’t an easy one. Having my elders to compete with, the election was a huge success. And as I talk to you, I give all glory. I must return all glory to God Almighty,” he added.

The legislator, in a landslide, pulled a total of 16,640 votes against Dr. Nyerere Chinenye Anyim, 5,206 votes; Prince Paul Ikonne, 4,099; and Hon. Blessing Nwagba, 4,456 votes.

‎Uchenna-Erondu won in all the six local government areas that make up the district namely, Aba North, Aba South, Ukwa East, Ukwa West, Obingwa, and Ugwunagbo.

‎The result was declared in Aba by the chairman of APC Abia South Senatorial District Primaries Election Committee, Emmanuel Kalu Agbaeze.

‎In another development, former House of Representatives member for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Emeka Atuma has emerged as winner of the party’s ticket for Abia Central for the 2027 general election.

‎Atuma, who served from 2003 to 2007 defeated Nkechi Nwogu, a senator for the district from 2011 -2019, and a former member of the House, Sam Onuigbo, from 2015 to 2023.

‎Announcing the result, APC Abia Central collation officer, A.C. Thomas-Nkoro said Atuma scored 36,935 votes, while Nwogu and Onuigbo scored 5,833 and 11,451 voted respectfully.

‎Reacting to the result Atuma expressed appreciation to the party leadership, community stakeholders, and the people of district for the confidence reposed in him.

‎He pledged to carry the mandate with humility, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the development and upliftment of the people of the district as he prepares for the election.

‎He said, “My focus from this moment is unity, reconciliation within our great party, and ultimately, delivering victory for the APC and meaningful service to our people.”

‎Similarly, the party’s Senator for Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu has won a third term ticket for the seat against his only challenger and university lecturer, Philips Ntoh.

‎Chairman of Abia North Senatorial National Assembly Primary Election Committee, Chinedu Kanu, announced that Kalu scored 65,651 votes against Ntoh’s 2,103 votes.

‎According to him, the exercise which was conducted in the 57 wards of the districts of the five local government areas of the district was peaceful, transparent, and credible manner.
