All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State yesterday protested the alleged victimisation of one of its lawmakers, Ibraheem Shittu, who leaked the N300 billion fresh loan approved by the state’s House of Assembly for Governor Seyi Makinde.

The protest, which started in the early hours at the APC Secretariat in Oke Ado area of Ibadan, included the chairman, Alhaji Olayide Abas, and other party members.

Shittu, who represents Saki West state constituency, raised the alarm that some members of the House had approved N300 billion for the state governor a few days ago.

Shittu was elected on the platform of the APC in 2023.

The party stated that it organised the rally to ensure that nothing happened to the lawmaker and disclosed that the lawmaker had been receiving threat messages as a result of the alarm he raised.

The party chairman, Alhaji Olayide Abas, addressed journalists and said that the protest was organised to show love to the lawmaker and ensure his protection.

He said the party organised the rally to show its solid support for the lawmaker.

Abas said, “We are here to show our support to him for taking bold steps to stand against the loan. We are behind him.

“We are here to tell the governor that he should not send Oyo State to a perpetual loan collector. We are not satisfied with what is happening. What has the governor done with the previous loans?

“I have the protest letter here. He should not be victimised. The process to take over Oyo State has started.”
