The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work on federal road projects across the South-East after an assessment tour of the sites.
The NANS Senate President, Ibeabuchi Moses Onyia, led a team of national, zonal, state and campus executives on the inspection tour on Monday.
The projects inspected included the flyover bridge at Eke/Obinagu Junction along the Enugu–Abakaliki Road, the Enugu–Onitsha Dual Carriageway, the rehabilitated Second Niger Bridge and the 100 metres of connecting roads on both the Anambra and Delta sides of the bridge. The team also visited the Onitsha–Owerri Expressway.
Speaking to journalists during the tour at the Second Niger Bridge, Onyia commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, for the quality of work on the roads inspected.
He said the students were satisfied with the standard of construction and the pace at which contractors were executing the ongoing projects.
According to him, the roads are already easing travel across the region, with students, traders and other commuters using them.
Onyia consequently passed a vote of confidence on Tinubu and Umahi on behalf of NANS.
“On behalf of the Senate of NANS and Nigerian students, a vote of confidence is hereby passed on the Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. David Umahi, for his commitment, hands-on supervision and results.
“A vote of confidence is also passed on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his leadership and sustained investment in infrastructure,” the NANS Senate President said.
