Nasarawa Assembly Names 8 Principal Officers

Nasarawa State House of Assembly has unveiled eight principal officers to ensure effective legislation to move the state forward.

The principal officers were announced by the speaker, Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi (APC-Umaisha/Ugya) during the House proceedings yesterday in Lafia, the state capital.

He said the principal officers emerged through a rigorous process and due consultations with the stakeholders in the state.

Abdullahi said, “Hon. members, the principal officers emerged after due consultation with the stakeholders in the state.

“They are Hon Mohammed Adamu Omadefu (APC- Keana), majority leader, Hon Danladi Jatau (APC-Kokona West), deputy majority leader.

“Hon. Larry Ven Bawa (APC-Akwanga North) is the chief whip of the House and Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara (APC- Awe South) is the deputy chief whip of the House,” he said.

The speaker also announced the House minority positions as Hon Iliya Luka Zhekaba (PDP-Obi 11), minority leader and Hon Musa Ibrahim Abubakar (NNPP- Doma South), deputy minority leader.

Others are Hon Solomon Akwashiki (SDP-Lafia Central), minority whip and Hon Musa Saidu Gude (SDP-Uke/Karsh), deputy Minority Whip.”

The speaker urged the principal officers to live above board while discharging their duties.

He called on the people of the state to continue to support Governor Abdullahi Sule to move the state forward.

He reassured the governor of the readiness of the members to collaborate with the executive arm so as to provide the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
