Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has urged calm and refrain from his supporters and people of the state ahead of Wednesday’s Court of Appeal hearing on the judgement of the electoral tribunal.

The governor, who made the appeal  yesterday in Lafia, charged his supporters not to engage in acts that could undermine the existing peace in the state.

Sule is seeking to overturn the split decision of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which favoured the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr David Ombugadu.

INEC had declared Sule winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state.

The Court of Appeal in its notice issued to parties in the case fixed November 15 for hearing of the case.

According to the notice, hearing in the case will commence by 9 am at the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division.

Sule, while commending the people of the state and tolerance shown by some politicians during and after the tribunal judgement, however urged for more restraint ahead of the Appeal Court hearing.

“Let me use the opportunity to commend the good people of Nasarawa State and the tolerance of several politicians, especially during and after the tribunal judgement. I want to thank you sincerely for the maturity some have shown during that period.

“I want to also use the opportunity to call on the good people of Nasarawa State and also our leaders in particular, security agencies to continue to show that wisdom, especially with the hearing that is coming on the 15th and the subsequent judgement that would follow at the Appeal Court,” he stated.
