NASC Appoints Nwoba As Senate Clerk, Promotes Key Officials

The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has announced the appointment of Mr. Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba as the new Clerk of the Senate.

In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, the Deputy Director of Information, Emmanuel Anyigor, stated that the appointment, effective from December 11, 2024, was approved during the Commission’s meeting held on December 4, 2024.

Anyigor noted that, prior to this role, Nwoba served as the Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning.

He emphasised that, in addition to Nwoba’s appointment, the NASC approved several other key elevations within the National Assembly’s bureaucracy. Mr. Emmanuel Odo has been named Deputy Clerk (Administration) for the Senate, while Mrs. Vivien N. Njemanze has assumed the role of Deputy Clerk (Administration) for the House of Representatives. Dr. Obasi D. Ukoha has succeeded Nwoba as Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning.

Further changes include the deployment of Mr. Rawlings Agada from Deputy Clerk (Administration), Senate, to Deputy Clerk (Legislative), Senate, and Mrs. Florence Kehinde A. from Deputy Clerk (Administration), House of Representatives, to Deputy Clerk (Legislative), House of Representatives.

Anyigor added that, earlier, the commission also approved the appointments of Mrs. Ogundayo Mofoluwake Olufunmilayo as Secretary of the Directorate of Special Duties, Mr. Alkali Umar Abubakar as Secretary of the Directorate of Human Resource & Staff Development, and Mr. Essien Eyo Essien as Secretary of the Directorate of Zonal Liaison Offices.

He further stated that these appointments and deployments are part of efforts to enhance the administrative and legislative efficiency of the National Assembly.
