NASS Joint Committee Visits Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Highway Project

Motorists along the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Highway may soon have reason to rejoice, as a new contractor, just a month into the project, has taken over the reconstruction of the dual carriageway with a promise of quality and durability.

The assurance came when the National Assembly Joint Committee on Works paid an unscheduled visit to the project.

Abuja-Kaduna-Kano dual carriage road is flourishing with promising quality and appreciable pace at the site of ongoing construction work on the road by the new contracting firm.

The joint committee expressed satisfaction with the quality of work but cautioned the contractor on meeting the deadline and other contractual specifications.

Senator Onyekachi Nwabonyi and other members of the Senate committee assured Nigerians of a durable road that will last for over 100 years.

“From what we are seeing, based on the quality of work, if completed, this project will last for generations to come, and the administration of President Tinubu is committed to ensuring the timely completion of this project,” Senator Nwabonyi said.

The deputy chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Works, Hon. Usman Banye, commended the quality of the work and materials.

“I want to assure Nigerians that the House will ensure continuous oversight of the project so as to ensure it meets the required standards,” he said.

The project is in phases as highlighted by the representative of the Federal Ministry of Works, Engr Kalu Chukwuma. He said the ministry is working closely with the contracting firm to ensured adherence to contractual terms.

“ As you all know, the project is in phases, we will continue to work closely with the contractor in order to ensure they adhere to all contractual agreements,” he said.

 

 

The Abuja-Kaduna section is 40.45 km in length,while that of the Kaduna-Zaria-Kano section is 73 km in length,asphaltic concrete binding and wearing with a duration of 14th months’ completion period.
