A statement by the director of defence media operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, said

the man identified as L.S. Akila A. was deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Dansadua for Operation FANSAN YAMMA, where he, in questionable circumstances, opened fire sporadically, killing a fellow military colleague.

General Buba said the man was thereafter arrested, disarmed and detained, adding that investigation had since commenced into the case.

He said, “After investigation, the case will be escalated to a standing court martial set-up to address such misdemeanor among troops.”
