North Central People’s Forum (NCPF) has expressed strong support for the executive chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Dr Muheeba Farida Dankaka.

The forum’s chairman, Engr Sani Ndanusa, who led a delegation to the commission’s headquarters in Abuja yesterday, said they are particularly impressed with how she is transforming the commission.

The former sports and youth development minister explained, “It is our practice to reach out to chief executives of parastatals from the North Central region to see how they are doing and offer encouragement.”

“We provide them with the support they need and discuss how we can improve the North Central zone. We see what the North East forum has achieved, culminating in a development commission. This is the direction we want to take the North Central People’s Forum.”

“We want to achieve exactly what happened in the North East, West, and South East. Together, we can formulate a similar development agenda for each zone in our country, Nigeria.”

While assuring the executive chairman of their unwavering support, Engr Ndanusa said, “We can present your story positively. While today’s interaction is one of our routine visits, I can assure you that most of us are well-informed about the function and sensitivity of your commission.

“We simply pray to Almighty Allah to grant you the wisdom, courage, and good health to advance all affairs of the commission. That’s why we are here.

“Since you are one of us from the North Central region, we urge you to keep your door open. Sometimes, we might need to come to you without prior notice, depending on what is happening in the region.

“We can be your eyes and ears in the zone, as I know you haven’t toured the North Central region extensively yet.

“We want to say that we stand with you in the North Central region and will give you all the support and prayers you need to succeed by God’s grace.

“Chairman, we are here to do whatever we can to add value to your organisation so that you can deliver the required development agenda,” he said.

In response to the forum’s visit, the executive chairman, Muheeba Dankaka, assured them of her support at any time.

She encouraged them not to hesitate to reach out whenever her services are needed.

“I am always open to the forum. I want to thank you all for the wonderful job you have been doing. May Almighty Allah be with you.

“Thank you so much for this solidarity visit. I am so grateful for this. So, anytime you need my services, please call on me.

“Please don’t hesitate to call me. I’m with you anytime. I’m part of you and not ‘from them.’ Thank you very much, beautiful brothers and sisters. I’m grateful,” she added.

On his part, the commissioner representing Niger State, General Suleiman Barau, emphasised the importance of organisations like the NCPF.

“We have seen others like the South East and West achieve many things, but it appears that we have been left behind on the issue of appointments.

“We just have to work hard. We have the secretary to the Government of the Federation, and he has to do a lot for us. Most things are in his hands; I don’t know how they do it, but we have to work hard, and this forum will continue to push him to do what is supposed to be done,” he added.
