The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a large consignment of methamphetamine at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Disclosing this in a statement on Sunday, Femi Babafemi, director, media and advocacy, NDLEA, said the seizure was detected by NDLEA operatives at the airport on Tuesday, May 16.

The illicit drug consignment with a street value of N567m weighed 30.10 kilograms and was concealed in custard containers as part of a consolidated cargo going to London.

The drug baron behind the shipment, Charles Chinedu Ezeh and the freight agent, Nwobodo Chidiebere were arrrested.

“Ezeh claims he’s a businessman and deals in articles in Onitsha, Anambra state but investigations reveal he lived with his wife and children in London until 10th December 2022 when he fled to Nigeria after his involvement in a drug related offense in the UK.

The statement further disclosed that NDLEA operatives in Adamawa arrested a 32-year-old notorious drug dealer and ex-convict, Prince Ikechukwu Uzoma who was caught with 1kg of skunk. Also, a 63-year-old, Bulus Mikah was arrested with over 5kg of opioids in Kaduna.
