The Kano State Strategic Command of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 64 bags of cannabis sativa concealed in a trailer loaded with cement along the Zaria–Kano Road.

The disclosure was contained in a press release issued on Friday, February 13, 2026, by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASN Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari.

The statement said the illicit consignment was recovered on February 2, 2026, by officers attached to the Kiru Area Command following “intelligence-led surveillance and careful monitoring.”

According to the statement, “The trailer, loaded with Dangote cement, departed Obajana in Kogi State and was en route to Mubi, Adamawa State when it was stopped along the Zaria–Kano road. The driver has been arrested and is currently in NDLEA custody pending further investigation.”

Commander D.Y. Lawal of the Kano Strategic Command described the operation as a product of sustained intelligence efforts. “This seizure is the result of meticulous intelligence work and the dedication of our officers. The drugs were concealed within legitimate cargo and are believed to have been intended for distribution in Kano ahead of the Ramadan period,” he said.
