NDMC DG Harps On Centre’s Role In National Development

The director general/chief executive of the National Metallurgical Development Centre (NMDC) Jos, Prof. Linus Asuquo, has said the centre has the capacity to offer comprehensive and effective research and development services to enhance economic and technological growth of the nation.

Prof. Asuquo stated this during a familization visit by the director general, Defence Industries Corporation of Nigerian (DICON) Kaduna, Maj. Gen. Aniedi Edet, to the centre in Jos.

According to him, the NDMC’s role is to offer research and development inputs necessary for the full development of the mining and minerals  sector in Nigeria and also offer its services to th West African subregion.

He said it was therefore necessary to strengthen the centre in the areas of infrastructure, equipment, training and funding of research projects to enable it provide the necessary services.

 

He added that it would also lead to diversification of the economy, poverty alleviation, job and wealth creation as well as GDP growth all geared towards national development in line with the National Minerals Development Road Map of 2017 and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present President Tinubu administration.

General Aniedi Edet said the collaboration between NMDC and DICON started as far back as 2020, adding that in 2024, they want to take the collaboration to the next level.
