A middle-aged man, Junior Ogbomo was set on fire by his neighbour who reportedly doused him in petrol, lit a matchstick and hurled it at him last week in Otofure Community, Ovia North East local government area of Edo State.

LEADERSHIP reports that Ogbomo eventually succumbed to injuries sustained from the attack at a hospital where was rushed.

The victim who hailed from Utekon — a neighbouring Community and suffered ’70 degree burn’, succumbed to his injuries on early hours of Wednesday at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Ugbowo in Benin.

The suspect simply identified Mr Christian, who lived in the same house with the victim in the Community, however fled the incident, prompting a member of Edo State Security Corps to bring the incident to light on a Benin-based Radio station.

The security agent who gave his name as Mr Favour disclosed that he intervened after the victim ran to a local vigilante office where he appealed to be taken to hospital and save his life but sadly died few days later.
