The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) has pledged to strengthen electrical safety, technical standards, inspection, testing and certification across the power sector as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

The managing director/CEO and chief electrical inspector of the Federation,  Olusegun Adesayo, made the commitment in a goodwill message issued on behalf of the management and staff of the agency.

Adesayo congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the federal government and Nigerians on the anniversary. He said the occasion offered a chance to celebrate the country’s resilience, reflect on its journey and renew commitment to building a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable nation.

He said the power sector remains critical to Nigeria’s economic growth and development. According to him, NEMSA remains committed to ensuring that electrical installations, power systems and equipment deployed nationwide comply with prescribed technical standards and safety requirements.

Citing the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration and ongoing reforms in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry, Adesayo said NEMSA would work with stakeholders to promote a safer, more reliable and sustainable electricity sector.

He urged operators, professionals, contractors and consumers in the sector to make safety and compliance a collective responsibility.

“Electrical safety is not merely a regulatory requirement; it is essential to protecting lives, property and critical national infrastructure,” he said.

“May this Independence Anniversary renew our hope, strengthen our unity and inspire us to greater service to our fatherland,” he said.
