Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed that he recently received treatment for early-stage prostate cancer, saying the condition was successfully addressed following routine medical monitoring.

In a post on X on Friday, Netanyahu said the condition was discovered during routine medical monitoring following a successful surgery in 2024 for an enlarged benign prostate.

According to him, doctors later identified an early-stage malignant tumour during follow-up checks.

“The treatment removed the problem and left no trace of it,” he said, adding that he had fully recovered.

Netanyahu also explained that he had requested a delay in the publication of his medical records, saying he did not want the information released during heightened tensions surrounding the US-Israel conflict with Iran, so as not to allow Tehran to “spread even more false propaganda against Israel.”

The 76-year-old said a “tiny spot of less than a centimetre” was detected during his most recent medical examination.

“I had a minor medical issue with my prostate that was completely treated. Thank God, it’s behind me,” he said.

In the lengthy statement, Netanyahu added that he opted for immediate treatment because he believed in addressing potential risks without delay.

“When I’m given information in time about a potential danger, I want to address it immediately. This is true on the national level and also on the personal level,” he said.

The disclosure came as Netanyahu is expected to visit the White House in the coming weeks as the United States pushes for a long-term peace arrangement in the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.

Meanwhile, Israel’s ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, following hostilities involving Iran-backed Hezbollah, has been extended by three weeks.
