The Benue State coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Veronica Garba, has warned corps members posted to the state to avoid unauthorised journeys and never travel at night.
Garba urged corps members to use motor parks of registered transport companies recognised by NYSC management.
“Be security conscious at all times and above all, make God your chief security officer and I assure you, all will go well with you,” she said.
Delivering her speech at the closing ceremony of 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream ll orientation course for corps members deployed to Benue State held at NYSC permanent orientation camp, Wannune, on Wednesday, Garba also charged them to be good ambassadors of the scheme.
She tasked them to stay away from cultism, drug abuse, cybercrimes among other negative acts.
“As you proceed to your various places of posting shortly, I urge you to be good ambassadors of the scheme, your families and institutions of graduation. Stay away from negative acts that are inimical to the image of NYSC and your families, especially drug abuse and trafficking, cybercrimes, cultism and bribery, amongst others.
“Rather, try as much as possible to promote the image of the scheme by striving towards the development of your host communities through Community Development Service. You are to respect the culture and tradition of your host communities and continue with your post camp SAED training for mastery and self reliance,” Garba added.
