A fresh investment in Ogun State’s industrial hub is set to ramp up local manufacturing and slash Nigeria’s dependence on imported goods, the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has announced
The state governor unveiled a new 7,000-tonne facility at the Ogun State Investment Summit, targeting creation of 50 direct jobs and positioning the state to scale up to 250 positions while slashing imports in key sectors.
Abiodun announced the initiative on Thursday, highlighting how the factory, which has an estimated annual production capacity of 7,000 tonnes, will boost local production, reduce Nigeria’s reliance on foreign goods, and drive industrial growth amid ongoing economic reforms.
The governor, who was represented by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Commerce Trade and Investment, Ogun State, Kehinde Akintomide, described the investment as a strong vote of confidence in Ogun State’s industrial ecosystem, noting that the state hosts over 6,000 manufacturing firms across its industrial clusters, making it one of Nigeria’s leading destinations for manufacturing investment.
He added that the development aligns with both the Ogun State government’s economic agenda and the federal government’s Renewed Hope initiative aimed at boosting local production and reducing import dependence.“
This investment further validates Ogun State’s position as the industrial capital of Nigeria.
We will continue to strengthen policies that support ease of doing business, attract investments, and drive sustainable economic growth,” he said.
In his remarks, the general manager of Summit Household Solutions Limited, Sadiq Ali, highlighted the strategic importance of the facility as a key driver of the company’s growth and innovation agenda.
The occasion was graced by many dignitaries, including former MD of 7Up Bottling Company, Ziad Maalou, the CEO of OmniRetail, Deepanker Rustagi and many others.
