New Ogun Customs Controller Woos Stakeholders Against Smuggling

Newly-deployed Customs Area Controller (CAC) for Ogun 1 Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), James Folorunsho Ojo yesterday solicited the support of all the critical stakeholders within and across the border areas to enable the command achieve its statutory mandates of trade facilitation as well as suppression of smuggling activities among others.

Ojo made the appeal during the handing and taking over of the command held at its headquarters in Idiroko Border of Ipokia Local government area of Ogun State.

Ojo, who assumed duty as the new CAC for the command, charged the officers and men of NCS to join him in reaffirming their collective commitment to the ideals and objectives that define the Ogun Area 1 Command.

LEADERSHIP, however, observed that Ojo is taking over the mantle of leadership of the command, Idiroko following the a major shake-up t by the NCS headquarters which saw the formed CAC, Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu behind deployed to oversee the Service’s affairs at the Federal Operation Unit (FOU) in the Kaduna Area Command.

In his remarks while taking over the mantle of leadership at the command, Ojo emphasised that, “a tree cannot make a forest” and as such, pledged to work “hand-in-hand” with all the sister agencies, as well as fostering a team-work spirit amongst the NCS personnel towards ensuring that the command does not default in its statutory mandate, stressing that ”

Earlier in his handing over speech, the outgoing CAC, Shuaibu urged critical stakeholders within the community, particularly the traditional rulers, the youths movement and Customs management from the Republic of Benin to fully extent the supports he enjoyed to the new area controller towards ensuring that the command witnesses a hitch-free mandate achievements.

While congratulating Comptroller Ojo on his new appointment and officially welcoming him to the Command, Shuaibu also called on the NCS personnel to intensify their efforts, extend maximum support and cooperation to the new administration in order to sustain the Command’s performance tempo.
