The chief executive officer, News Central Media Limited, Tonye-Halliday, has assured Nigerians, especially the audience and friends of the station that the television station is out to correct the wrong impressions being carried by mostly foreign stations about Nigeria and Africa in general.

The News Central Media Limited had launched its broadcast services on DSTV,  barely two months into Nigerian markets, as the channel is currently available to DSTV customers in 42 countries in West, East, Central and Southern Africa.

Speaking on the launch in Lagos, Tonye-Halliday said: “Why News Central Africa is unique is that it will do in-depth stories. Imagine Nigerian media houses are saying about four or five states have been affected by flood. But CNN today said about 33 states out of 36 states. As News Central Africa always goes to the sources of the problems, it will come out with more variable figures and news.”

Also speaking, the head of Commercial for News Central Media Limited, Rosemary Egabor-Afolahan, said: “as a premium African news brand, we are focused on telling African stories with honesty, dignity and respect to changing the single-minded narrative of the continent.

“Our audience is first and primarily Africans with a focus on some certain key markets. We are excited to launch DSTV, a platform that we believe will help further drive our vision to become the most respected news media brand in Africa.”

On his own, head, news department, Uzonna Ononye, stated that News Central Africa is a storytelling station that will promote all the sectors that have been neglected by other media houses.

“News Central TV is aimed primarily at Africa’s youth. We are out to capture African audiences through telling African stories in African ways. We offer over 20 hours of original and inspiring content daily that cuts across politics, business, sports, entertainment and features,” Ononye stressed.

Before coming on DSTV, News Central launched on StarTimes in 2020 and has gained prominence as the continent’s first truly Pan-African news channel known for telling compelling and incisive stories about Africa. News Central is changing the narrative about how Africa is portrayed.
