The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Disciplinary Committee has come down hard on Remo Stars FC, upholding the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) heavy sanctions following crowd disturbances during their match against Ikorodu City FC on 14th January 2026.
The committee’s findings revealed a failure by Remo Stars to provide adequate security, leading to an attack on Ikorodu City FC supporters with dangerous weapons, resulting in injuries and damage to the away team’s bus. Furthermore, Remo Stars supporters were found to have thrown objects onto the pitch, causing two stoppages in play, and exhibited conduct “capable of bringing the game to disrepute.”
As a result, Remo Stars have been fined a total of N5,000,000 (Five Million Naira). This includes N2,000,000 for security failures, N1,000,000 for throwing objects, and an additional N2,000,000 as compensation for injuries to away supporters and damage to their bus.
Initially, a ban on all remaining home fixtures for the 2025/2026 season was proposed, but the committee reduced this to a five-match ban, to be served at a neutral venue, Lekan Salami Stadium, running concurrently from the date of the sanction. Remo Stars retain the right to appeal these decisions.
