A non-governmental organisation, Arridah Relief Foundation, has distributed food items to over 250 vulnerable households and persons living with disabilities across communities in Kaduna as part of efforts to support residents during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, the national president of the foundation, Mamman Salima Sani, said the gesture was aimed at easing the burden on struggling families and enabling vulnerable residents to celebrate the Sallah season with dignity.

She explained that the outreach formed part of the organisation’s annual humanitarian programme designed to support widows, orphans, persons with disabilities and other less privileged members of society during festive periods.

According to her, many households are currently struggling to afford basic food items due to the country’s prevailing economic situation.

“We felt it was necessary to support vulnerable families at this period so they can also celebrate Sallah with joy despite the current hardship facing many Nigerians,” she said.

Salima Sani disclosed that the food items were distributed to beneficiaries in different communities within Kaduna State, while similar support was also extended to some residents of Maraban Jos.

She noted that Arridah Relief Foundation has remained committed over the years to humanitarian services targeted at improving the welfare of vulnerable persons and reducing hardship in communities.

Also speaking, the foundation’s Secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed Salafi, said the organisation would continue to provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable citizens across Northern Nigeria.

He added that the foundation had impacted hundreds of lives through charity programmes and community support initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of the less privileged persons.

Salafi called on Nigerians to continue praying for peace, unity and stability in the country, stressing that collective support and compassion were needed to address the challenges confronting vulnerable communities.

Speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, the leader of persons with spinal cord challenges in Kaduna State and representative of the Joint Association of Physically Challenged Persons, Comrade Nasiru Mohammed Adamu, commended the foundation for the intervention.

He described the gesture as timely, particularly in light of the economic difficulties many families face, and added that the organisation had consistently supported vulnerable people during important celebrations over the years.

Adamu said the support would go a long way in helping beneficiaries and giving them a sense of belonging during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
