The Concerned Nigerlites Forum (CNF) has called for decisive action against foreign interference in Nigeria’s internal affairs during the end bad governance protests.

The call is contained in the resolution of the forum in conjunction with other Civil Society Organisations and student representatives in Niger State yesterday.

In the resolution  reviewing the recent protest, they reiterated the concerns of Nigerians regarding the prevailing hardships in the country and the democratic right of citizens to peacefully assemble and protest to voice their grievances.

The resolution signed by the convener of the forum, Abduljalil Alhaji Yahaya, noted that peaceful protests have the potential to shape public opinion and influence policymakers to reconsider or alter policies.

The forum however expressed dismay at the events that transpired during the protest, where violence erupted in some states, alleging that there was a clear attempt by external forces to destabilise and instigate chaos in Nigeria.

“The display of another country’s flag is part of a larger conspiracy to undermine Nigeria’s democracy and incite widespread crisis, destruction, confusion, distrust and political instability  and it is unacceptable,” the forum said, describing it as a direct violation of Nigeria’s sovereignty and democratic principles and therefore  called on the federal government to take immediate and necessary actions.

The resolution also urged the federal government to within one month identify and prosecute foreign individuals and organisations involved, directly or indirectly in attempts to sabotage Nigeria or engaging with foreign governments to clarify their roles and seek assistance in achieving a peaceful resolution.
