Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has called for an end to the rising cases of insecurity in parts of Niger State and across the nation, even as he advocated for intense prayers.

LEADERSHIP reported that there has been an upsurge in the cases of Banditry in communities and trenches around Borgu and Agwara local government area of Niger North since November last year, when children and staff of St Mary Catholic school, Papiri, were abducted and rescued.

Bago, who has been under pressure due to the state of insecurity, decried the situation in the state when he spoke to Journalists shortly after a special prayer session was organised in commemoration of his 52nd birthday by the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Minna, Hajiya Hauwa Wali.

The governor expressed concern about how some people have been displaced in some communities and from their homes due to terrorism.

He pointed out that there’s no better time to pray for God’s mercy and intervention than now, especially as both Muslims and Christians are observing their respective fasts (Ramadan and Lent).

“My 52nd birthday has fallen on the 5th day of the Ramadan fast, which also coincides with Lent for Christians. So I dedicate today to special prayers across the state and in all places of worship for God to bring succour to the people,” he declared.

While appreciating God for all He has done for him in life, the governor thanked the event organiser, his cabinet members, and all those contributing to the success of his administration.
