The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has commended Islamic scholars for their immense contributions to education, moral development, peace, and social harmony across the state.
The governor made the commendation during an Iftar (breaking of fast) with Islamic scholars from various parts of Bauchi State, held at the Government House, Bauchi, yesterday night.
Governor Mohammed described religious leaders as key stakeholders in promoting moral values and peaceful coexistence, stressing that his administration deeply appreciates their guidance and support in governance.
He announced that the Bauchi State Government has concluded plans to commence the payment of allowances to Islamic scholars as part of efforts to support and motivate them in the discharge of their religious and community responsibilities.
The governor urged the scholars to continue preaching tolerance, unity, and peaceful coexistence, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, emphasising that sustained peace remains fundamental to the state’s growth and development.
He further assured them of his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with religious leaders to tackle social challenges and advance community development initiatives.
In their separate remarks, the Islamic scholars expressed appreciation to the governor for the gesture and prayed for continued peace, stability, and progress in Bauchi State.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting government policies through moral guidance and responsible preaching.
