Niger State government and Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, representing  Niger East, have condemned the attack by bandits on Erena Bagna and Yelwa communities of Shiroro local government area.

Apparently confirming the attack where Bagna community was razed and five people killed, the secretary to the state government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, said the state government strongly condemned the heinous and senseless banditry attacks that occurred in the area.

He said the attack, which led to the tragic loss of innocent lives and destruction of property as well as displacement of people of the affected communities, was characterised by sporadic shooting and setting of houses ablaze, as indicated by reports.

Usman described the attacks as barbaric, inhuman and a direct affront to the peace and security efforts of the present administration, both at the state and federal levels and therefore expressed deep sorrow over the incident.

For his part, Senator Sani Musa said, “I condemn in the strongest terms the recent banditry attacks on innocent communities in Shiroro local government area of Niger East Senatorial District. These senseless acts of violence, which have led to loss of lives, displacement of families and destruction of property, are deeply painful and unacceptable.”

He, however, lauded the proactive efforts of the Niger State Government under the leadership of Mohammed Umaru Bago, alongside the Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba, and the Chairman of Shiroro LGA, Isyaku Bawa, for their continued commitment to addressing the security challenges in the state and the local government.

While commending the gallant efforts of the security operatives, the vigilante units, and the people of Shiroro for their courage and determination in the face of adversity, he said more needed to be done.
