The Niger State government has declared plans to partner with military veterans in the effort to ensure a safer and more secure environment.
Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Abubakar Usman disclosed this when he received a delegation of retired military officers led by Alhaji Adamu Dantani in his office in Minna yesterday.
He lauded the veterans for their service to the nation and their renewed commitment to contribute to the security architecture in Niger State.
The SSG charged them to remain united and organised as a team to actualise their noble objective of supporting security and development in the state.
He said the administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago prioritises the safety and well-being of citizens and would continue to explore collaborations with relevant stakeholders, including veterans, to complement government’s efforts in maintaining peace and security.
He suggested that the veterans align themselves with existing paramilitary groups and security outfits, leveraging their wealth of experience, discipline and training to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness in securing communities.
While assuring them of government’s readiness to engage them, Alhaji Dantani said Governor Bago would be briefed on their visit and proposals in order to explore avenues of collaboration.
The leader of the delegation pledged their loyalty and commitment to support the state government in its effort to secure lives and property, and contribute to development efforts in the state.
