Niger To Spend N976m On Ramadan Feeding

The Niger State government is to spend N976 million on Ramandan feeding across the eight emirates in the state, in addition to  procurement of  assorted grains worth billions of naira to be distributed to all 25 local government areas and emirate councils, religious leaders, security agencies and political parties in the state.

The commissioner for information and strategy, Hon. Binta Mamman, said Ramadan feeding centres had been set up in all the emirate councils with emirs  as coordinators.

Hon. Binta Mamman said in zone A, Bida, Agaie and Lapai  emirates would receive N222 million,  N43m and N40m respectively. In zone B, Minna, Kagara and Suleja will get N227m, N43m  and N105m respectively and in zone C Kontagora and Borgu emirates are to receive N226m and N70m respectively.

She disclosed that local government areas will receive 1000 bags of 10 kg rice, 184 bags of 25 kg rice, 2,000 bags of 10 kg maize, 490 bags of 25 kg of maize, 1,200 bags of 10kg millet, as well as 1,200 bags of sorghum and 775 bags of beans.

According to her, each local government area will receive 7,079 bags of assorted grains but Bida, Kontagora and Suleja will receive 14, 000 bags of assorted grains each, with Chanchaga LGA receiving the highest number of 21,000 bags of grains.

Others to benefit from this gesture are traditional and religious institutions, security agencies, House of Assembly, parties, internally displaced people and organised labour, among others.
