Chairman of the New Deal Organisation, Hon. Prince Daniel Kanu, has urged Nigerians to heed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s call for collective action to address the country’s challenges.
Kanu stated this in an Independence Day message in which he said the President’s 66th anniversary address acknowledged some of the country’s past failures and appealed to Nigerians to work together towards national development.
“Mr President’s speech acknowledged some of the failures of the past and appealed to Nigerians to walk together in our collective effort to uplift the nation,” he said.
Kanu said the message should encourage Nigerians to put aside political differences and contribute to addressing the country’s difficulties.
He said national development should not be left solely to those holding political offices, stressing that citizens also had responsibilities in building the country.
Kanu urged Nigerians to set aside ethnic and religious interests and dedicate themselves to the development of what he described as one indivisible Nigeria.
He also called on citizens to support legitimate institutions and leadership while playing their part in their various areas of responsibility.
According to him, the challenges facing the country require Nigerians to embrace integrity, honesty, discipline, competence, compassion, accountability and patriotism.
Kanu said the responsibility for building the Nigeria Nigerians desire could not rest solely on the shoulders of those in government, but must involve citizens across different levels of society.
