The President of the Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF), Engineer Simon O. Nkom, has been elected to the executive board of the African Hockey Federation (AfHF) during its 25th Ordinary Congress, which took place at the Hotel Mercure in Ismailia, Egypt on Thursday.
This esteemed congress gathered influential hockey administrators and stakeholders from across Africa, heralding a significant development in the leadership framework of the sport on the continent.
Engr. Nkom’s election is seen as a testament to his unwavering commitment and exceptional contributions to the advancement of hockey in Nigeria and beyond.
In his address during the election, he expressed profound gratitude for the trust bestowed upon him by his fellow members and reiterated his dedication to promoting the sport at a continental level.
The congress also celebrated Nigeria’s Professor Ediga, who concluded a decade of service as a member of the AfHF Executive Board.
He received special recognition from both Mr. Tayyab Ikram, President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), and Mr. Seif Ahmed, President of the AfHF, in honour of his significant contributions to the governance and development of hockey in Africa.
The Nigeria Hockey Federation congratulated Engr. Nkom and Professor Ediga, highlighting their achievements as a reflection of Nigeria’s increasing prominence in continental hockey and their steadfast commitment to fostering the growth of the sport.
