The bishop of the Diocese of Umuahia East Methodist Church Nigeria, Rt Rev Ikechukwu Nkulo has expressed confidence that the country will be great again by the grace of God.
Nkulo gave the assurance yesterday in his new year message to members of the diocese in Umuahia, Abia State capital, adding that all that God required from them is patience.
He maintained that he is optimistic of better days ahead for the country just as the state under the current administration of Dr Alex Otti had begun to experience a new lease of life.
He anchored the message in the Bible book of Jeremiah 29: 11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope”.
The clergyman appealed to the politicians, business men and women, law enforcement agents, parents and teachers among others to perform their duties honestly and diligently as if they are doing it to God.
He said: “Let our families, communities, and publics evolve a conscious effort in our bid for a national ethical renewal or rebirth. Let’s not take the search for a better life as a do or die affair.
“The year 2024 has come, so, let’s pray to God to make us fruitful and grant us the grace to work with Him throughout the journey of the year in the name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Amen.”
