Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, has called on Nigerians to show faith in the electioneering process to ensure the success of democracy in the country.

Abe, who is one of the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Rainbow Coalition in the state, made the call in Port Harcourt, when he spoke on the aftermath of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District by-election.

He averred that the commitment and dedication shown by the people in turning out to vote in spite of the rain is an indication that they have faith in the electioneering process.

Abe said, “I want to thank the people and enjoin all Nigerians to have faith in our electioneering process, as you can see that the process went on smoothly, transparently, freely, and fairly.

“It is not enough for some people to sit in their houses or believe every piece of trash on social media and complain without participating in the process to vote and let their votes be counted.

“Politics of the Rivers South East Senatorial District are not conducted on radio stations or on Facebook and social media, but they are conducted here in the hearts of the people of this Senatorial District, and we are very happy with the support that they have given to us.”

He commended the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) for improving on their performance in the 2023 general elections, urging them to do better in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

Meanwhile, Senator Abe has congratulated the senator-elect in the senatorial by-election, Senator Olaka Nwogu, for emerging victorious in the election.

Abe, in the congratulatory message, urged Nwogu to be magnanimous in victory and remember that the people defied the rain to vote him into office.
