During a recent episode of the ‘No Man’s Friend’ podcast, the ‘Over The Moon’ hitmaker revealed that his move was necessitated by a job opportunity he received, prompting a significant change in his life.

“I now live in the U.S. I left Nigeria last year after I got a job with a company in New York that offered me an opportunity to move to the States and live anywhere in the U.S. I’ve family in Houston, my best friend lives here, so Houston, Texas was an easy choice. And that is it. I’ve been working here for the last one year and a half,” he shared during the podcast.

Dr Sid first rose to fame in 2002 as a member of the pioneering music collective Da Trybe. He made his mark on the hip-hop scene with his feature on the popular track ‘Oya,’ alongside notable artists such as Sasha, 2-Shotz, Timi, DEL, and the Trybesmen, including Eldee, Kb, and Freestyle.

In 2003, he ventured into a solo career, releasing his debut single ‘Don’t Stop.’ However, he took a hiatus from music to complete his studies, ultimately earning a degree in dentistry.

He then moved to the UK, collaborating with various artists including JJC and the 419 Squad, Felix Duke, KAS, R70, D’Prince, and D’Banj. In 2005, he began work on his studio album ‘Prognosis,’ which featured the track ‘Raise Da Roof,’ but the project was eventually shelved.

In 2007, after three years of dental practice, Dr Sid made a pivotal decision to fully commit to his music career, signing with Don Jazzy’s renowned label Mo’ Hits Records. His debut studio album, ‘Turning Point,’ was released in April 2010 and included hits like ‘Over The Moon’ and ‘Pop Something.’

After a notable split between partners at Mo’ Hits Records—D’banj and Don Jazzy—in 2012, Dr Sid transitioned to Mavin Records, also helmed by Don Jazzy. Under this label, he released his second album, ‘Siduction,’ in December 2013.

In addition to his music career, Dr Sid made his acting debut in 2014 with a role in Moses Inwang’s film ‘The Last 3 Digits.’ In the film, he portrayed an NYSC corps member and a friend of Nonso Diobi, showcasing yet another facet of his diverse talents.
