This was contained in the resolutions reached during the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting of NLC held yesterday at Labour House, Minna.

The SEC-in-session said the resolution was based on the unprecedented achievements recorded by Comrade Idris Abdulkareem Lafene which has surpassed the former leaderships of NLC in the past six years and observed that, affiliate unions are being carried along in the scheme of things especially as it affects workers’ welfare.

Also noted by the SEC were the defrayment of arrears of third-party deductions, sustained payment of salaries to all categories of workers and pensioners at the state and local government areas and commencement of defrayment of owed salary arrears for local government areas from 210 percent to less than 50 percent.

The SEC-in-session also approved the partnership between the NLC and State Ministry of Agriculture to key into the agriculture drive of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
To this end, the ministry has consented to the idea of the state NLC to establish a labour farm for which a memo is being developed for onward presentation to the government.

It says beneficiaries would be selected and rotated annually while the leadership would look at the legal implications of any memorandum of understanding (MoU) before signing any document.
