Brighton & Hove Albion’s Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, has added another feather to her cap, earning a spot in Izzy Christiansen’s Women’s Super League Team of the Week for Gameweek 19.
The Nigeria international delivered a commanding performance in the Seagulls’ crucial 1-0 away victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday. Nnadozie secured her sixth clean sheet of the season with two pivotal interventions: a decisive rush off her line to thwart Shannon O’Brien, followed by a strong late punch to clear a dangerous corner, ensuring Brighton travelled back to the south coast with all three points.
Nnadozie’s inclusion places her amongst a stellar lineup. Christiansen’s XI features a backline anchored by Manchester City’s Alex Greenwood and Rebecca Knaak, alongside Aston Villa’s Lynn Wilms. The midfield comprises Lauren Hemp, Chelsea’s Sjoeke Nusken, Tottenham Hotspur’s Signe Gaupset, and Liverpool’s Ceri Holland. The attack boasts Aston Villa’s Kirsty Hanson, Arsenal’s Alessia Russo, and Chelsea’s Lauren James. Manchester City manager Andree Jeglertz was named the team’s coach.
This recognition underscores what has quietly been an exceptionally consistent campaign for the 25-year-old. She currently leads the WSL with a save percentage of 75.7%, ranks third for saves per 90 minutes (3.30), and tops the league for goals prevented (3.40). Her six clean sheets place her joint second in the league, just behind Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton.
