NNL AGM Holds Friday In Owerri As Clubs Set To Review New Season Plans

The Nigeria National League (NNL) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday, August 21, 2026, in Owerri, Imo State.

The major item on the agenda, according to a statement from the NNL board, is the proposed new date for the commencement of the 2026/27 NNL season, alongside a review of the activities and performance of the league during the past season.

The statement further revealed that, the delegates and participants are expected to arrive in Owerri on Thursday, August 20, ahead of the meeting proper on Friday, with departure scheduled for Saturday.

The AGM is expected to attract the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, club chairmen and other key football administrators.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, is expected to officially declare the meeting open.

The meeting will also provide stakeholders with an opportunity to deliberate on the future direction of the second-tier domestic league and consider measures aimed at strengthening its organisation and competitiveness.

The NNL board described the AGM as an important platform for stakeholders to assess the league’s progress and chart a way forward for what remains one of Nigeria’s key domestic football competitions.
