Mass protests have erupted across the United States as thousands of demonstrators flood major cities in a fresh wave of the “No Kings” rallies targeting President Donald Trump’s administration.
From Washington, DC to New York and Los Angeles, crowds are surging into streets, parks, and public squares, with organisers saying millions are joining the nationwide action.
In the nation’s capital, protesters marched in large numbers from Arlington, Virginia, packing the National Mall and lining the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in a dramatic show of dissent.
The rallies are driven by anger over a string of controversial policies, including the war in Iran, sweeping immigration crackdowns, and worsening economic pressures. Protesters accuse Trump of overreaching executive powers and undermining democratic institutions.
“Power belongs to the people—not to wannabe kings,” organisers declared, framing the protests as a direct challenge to what they describe as authoritarian tendencies within the administration.
Demonstrators waved placards, chanted slogans, and carried effigies of Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other top officials, calling for their removal from office.
Despite criticism from Trump allies—who have dismissed the rallies as anti-America and linked them to far-left groups—organisers insist the protests are peaceful. Several states, however, have mobilised the National Guard amid fears of unrest.
The protests come as tensions continue to mount over Trump’s aggressive use of executive authority since returning to office, including deploying federal forces to cities and targeting political opponents.
The movement has also gone global. American expatriates staged parallel demonstrations in cities such as Paris, London, and Lisbon, with some protesters branding the president a “fascist” and demanding his impeachment.
With more rallies expected throughout the day, the “No Kings” movement is rapidly shaping into one of the largest protest waves in recent US history, signalling deepening divisions over the direction of the country.
