The Northern Nigeria Christian Youth Association (NNCYA) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his renewed commitment to addressing the escalating security challenges across the country, particularly in the northern region.
In a statement issued by its National Secretary, Bason Sunday, the association said recent government actions have strengthened public confidence in the fight against banditry, terrorism and other violent crimes.
According to the group, the President’s strategic interventions and collaboration with local communities are already yielding positive outcomes, especially in states that have suffered persistent attacks by criminal gangs.
The association also threw its weight behind the appointment of General Christopher Gbagin Musa as Minister of Defence, describing it as a timely and strategic step in the country’s battle against insecurity.
Sunday said General Musa’s experience and record of service in the military give Nigerians renewed hope that coordinated and effective responses to security threats would be achieved under his leadership.
He said, “General Musa is a seasoned military leader with extensive operational and strategic expertise. His appointment symbolises decisive action and a commitment to strengthening security architecture nationwide.”
The NNCYA called on Nigerians to support the new Defence Minister as he assumes office, adding that cooperation between citizens and security agencies remains vital to restoring lasting peace.
The group expressed optimism that the Defence Ministry, under Musa, will champion innovative strategies and foster stronger collaboration among security agencies to safeguard lives and property.
It further assured President Tinubu of its continued support, while urging citizens to play active roles in promoting peace within their communities.
