Niger Tornadoes’ alarming slide down the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table has been pinned squarely on a chronic lack of firepower, with Technical Adviser Majin Mohammed admitting that his team’s poor marksmanship is the primary culprit behind their recent woes.
The Ikon Allah Boys are enduring a torrid spell in front of goal, having failed to hit the back of the net in each of their last five outings.
This unprecedented barren run has plunged the Minna-based outfit into a deep crisis, as they remain winless in seven consecutive league matches, watching their position in the standings deteriorate with every passing gameweek.
The frustration reached a new peak following their latest stalemate, a goalless draw against Kano Pillars. Mohammed expressed his dismay that despite a week of intensive training focused specifically on finishing, his players were unable to translate preparation into performance.
“We dedicated the entire week leading up to the Kano Pillars game to drilling various scoring techniques on the training ground. We worked on movement, composure, and finishing from all ranges,” Mohammed revealed to the club’s media channels.
“It is incredibly disheartening that, despite all that work, we found ourselves in the same situation—unable to find the net when it mattered most.”
The team’s inability to convert chances has not only cost them valuable points but has also visibly eroded their confidence in the final third. Once considered a solid mid-table side, Niger Tornadoes now find themselves looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone.
With Sheduled fixture against Rivers United on Thursday. The match presents an immediate opportunity for redemption, but it also carries the weight of expectation.
Mohammed and his squad will be desperate to end their goal drought and halt their freefall, knowing that another blank could deepen the crisis and further complicate their season.
