Bendel Insurance and Kano Pillars moved into the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title race after victories on Sunday saw them join Rivers United and Enugu Rangers on the summit, following a 1-1 draw between the two leading sides in Port Harcourt.
Rivers United and Rangers shared the points at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, a result that opened the door for Bendel Insurance and Kano Pillars to draw level with them at the top of the standings.
Rivers United, however, retained first position on a superior goal difference, with Rangers occupying second place, while Bendel Insurance and Kano Pillars completed the top four respectively.
Bendel Insurance secured an important 2-1 away victory over Kwara United to strengthen their title credentials, while Kano Pillars recorded a convincing 2-0 home win against Nasarawa United.
The results further intensified the competition at the top of the table, with four teams now level on points.
In other Matchday 11 fixtures, Shooting Stars produced the biggest result of the day, thrashing Abia Warriors 4-1 to claim all three points.
Enyimba also secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Kun Khalifat, while Inter Lagos and Ranchers Bees played out a 1-1 draw.
Katsina United defeated Sporting Lagos 2-1, while Plateau United and Warri Wolves settled for a 1-1 draw.
The results underline the growing competitiveness of the NPFL, with the battle for the summit tightening as the season progresses.
