The National Sports Commission (NSC) has revealed the robust membership of the Main Organising Committee (MOC) for the inaugural National Intermediate Games, set to take place in Lagos later this year.
This announcement was made in a statement released on Wednesday by Dr Kehinde Ajayi, Director of Information and Public Relations at the National Sports Commission.
The National Intermediate Games is a key initiative from the current NSC leadership, spearheaded by Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director General Hon Bukola Olopade. It aims to further the NSC’s sports development mandate under the ‘Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria Sports Economy’ (RHINSE).
The Games were established to provide a structured pathway for athletes over 15 years old who have participated in the National Youth Games.
Hon Bukola Olopade, Director General of the NSC, will chair the Main Organising Committee. The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee will serve as Vice Chairman, with Olalekan Alabi appointed as MOC Secretary.
Other committee members include Amaka Ashiofu, Niyi Beyioku, Thecla Para, Mrs Kehinde Ajayi, Dr Rabiu Mohammed, Mbora Ikana, Dr Ibrahim Abdullahi, Yusuf Ali, Dr Emmanuel Igbinosa, and Michael Obasi.
Further members of the Main Organising Committee are Salisu Abubakar, Seyi Johnson, Rekiya Amedu, Kawu, Ahmad Muazu, Olufisayo Odiaka, Mariam Akande, and a representative from the State Director of Sports.
Hon Bukola Olopade urged committee members to leverage their expertise to ensure the inaugural Intermediate Games establishes a lasting legacy for future events.
