The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 28-year-old man, Bless Johnson, for allegedly defrauding some Adamawa State’s residents of over N9 million under the guise of securing them the corps’ jobs.
The command’s public relations officer, DSC Nyako Baba, issued a press statement stating that the suspect was reported to the NSCDC Divisional Office in Mubi, prompting the corps to respond immediately.
He said that while acting on credible intelligence and coordinated efforts, the officers tracked and arrested Johnson at Timbokum village in Ganye’s local government area.
Baba said the investigation indicated that the suspect defrauded at least nine individuals by promising political appointments, job placements and assistance with international travel.
He said N9,085,000.00 was deposited into the suspect’s account by the victims.
Accordingly, the suspect refunded N1,120,000 to some victims.
“The suspect executed his scheme by obtaining contacts of prominent state personalities and luring victims with fraudulent offers.
The NSCDC state commandant, Idris Bande, has ordered a full investigation to determine the extent of Johnson’s activities and other accomplices involved.
Bande assured the public that, upon the completion of the investigation, the suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He urged the people to remain vigilant and report fraudulent activities promptly to the nearest law enforcement agency to ensure swift action.
The NSCDC reaffirms its dedication to protecting life, property and public confidence by bringing perpetrators of fraud and other crimes to justice.
