In a bold move to bolster emergency response and security operations in Katsina State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Katsina Command has unveiled a specialised Rapid Response Squad.

The launch was spearheaded by the state commandant, Commandant of Corps Aminu Datti Ahmad, during a formal ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Katsina.

Addressing officers at the unveiling, Commandant Ahmad highlighted that the initiative aligns with a directive from the commandant general of NSCDC, Dr Ahmad Abubakar Audi, mandating the establishment of Rapid Response Squads across the country.

He said the goal is to ensure swift intervention during emergencies, enhance public safety, and secure critical national assets and infrastructure.

The newly formed team will remain on high alert and fully equipped to handle emergency situations promptly within the state.

In a related development, Commandant Ahmad also convened the first quarterly management meeting, bringing together heads of departments, units, area commanders, divisional officers, unit commanders, and officers in charge of outposts.

The meeting, which marked his 100th day in office, served as a platform to review operational achievements, confront ongoing challenges, and strategise for improved service delivery.

During the session, the commandant reiterated his commitment to providing visionary leadership, upholding professional standards, and fostering a culture of dedication and sacrifice among personnel.

He emphasised the importance of discipline, adherence to standard operating procedures, and continuous capacity building.

Highlighting his roadmap for the command, Commandant Ahmad outlined plans for increased staff welfare, regular training and retraining programs, and a reward system to encourage excellence.

He further recognised and commended officers who had demonstrated exceptional performance in their duties.

The event underscores the NSCDC Katsina Command’s renewed focus on safeguarding lives, property, and national infrastructure across the state.
